From the first trademark registration and production in 1800s till today as the competition increases, the trademarks created also increase. Nowadays, only in Turkey, the trademark application number reaches a monthly figure of ten thousand. Only approximately three thousand of these can be registered. Brand creation and fight against piracy and counterfeiting are becoming more and more important.
Today in order not to miss the legal renewal periods, to prevent the registration of counterfeit trademarks, to choose the optimum registration system in terms of procedural and economical aspects, the trademark owners receive counseling service from trademark patent attorneys. Increasing competitive environment and trade-marking efforts to reach the consumers more effectively are increasing the need for patent attorneys.
Therefore the patent and trademark attorneys who pursue the establishment and protection of the rights during trademark registration procedures under the supervision of Turkish Patent Institute have become much sought experts. In this year’s exam, almost 2000 candidates succeeded to be obtain the title of trademark and patent attorney. However even this number is not sufficient to meet the demand and need of the market.
